Kyulyun Taekyun Association

Kyulyun Taekyun Association started at Sajik-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul in 1938, under the name of 'Taekyun Preservation Society' by several college students who were training under 'the late Song Duk-ki(1893 - 1987: the first Taekyun Cultural Inheritor)', with Song Duk-ki as the representative to commemorate the designation of Taekyun as an important intangible cultural asset.

Kyulyun Taekyun Association aims to preserve and succeed Kyulyun Taekyun which has been developed as Korea's unique martial game culture and contribute to the development of the high-spirited national culture.

Association Activity

1. Developed and promoted Kyulyun Taekyun as a tourist cultural product by elevating it to traditional culture and art in part of madangnori(traditional Korean outdoor performance)
2. Introduced and promoted the excellence of Kyulyun Taekyun through performance in Korea and overseas
3. Regularly held and sponsored Taekyun Battle (Kyulyun Taekyun Competition)
4. Researched and published the study of Kyulyun Taekyun for its transmission and diffusion
5. Carried out any other activity required for the succession and diffusion of Kyulyun Taekyun

Been active since the permission of Regional Culture Division in Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Aug.29th, 2000
